The Rhetor - The photographer took this picture on a life boat, so he must have been involed with the crew in some way. This could be a follow up to picture 3.
The Text - Sailors on their way home, land is in sight they have made it. The lighthouse is their beacon of hope and the finish line. Their light at the end of the tunnel.
The Audience - Sailors on their way home and/or the people and family waiting for them.
The American Flag flies high on the sea. Three ships sail under this flag, in rough waters. This pictures inspires American pride.

The Rhetor - The photographer took this in the open sea. He captured the image with three ships sailing under a flag.
The Text - The waves look too rough to be by the shore line, so this is most likely in the open sea. I bet that those ship are American, i say this because they are literary sailing under the US flag.
The Audience - Any US sailor, whether it is for the Navy sailors or just fisherman trying to get by.
Sailors watch as their ship sinks into the murky deep. This could be the before image of the first one. Two row boats can me seen, and the sinking ship.

The Rhetor - The photographer took this picture on a life boat, so he must have been involed with the crew in some way.
The Text - This photo tell the dangers of the sea. How lives can be lost within minutes. You can only see two life boats and without the knownledge of if there are other life boats, the worst can be assumed. It is an old style ship, still using sails, and the life boats must be rowed. No machine powered device in sight. This isnt a passenger ship because if it was there would be women on the life boats but there is only men. The men look to be around different ages you can see a boy most likely in his teen years.
The Audience - Any seafaring people. This image is meant to remind the sailors of the world that no matter how safe you think you are your boat can always be claimed by the sea.
